La Tigra National Park is a treasure trove of hiking and exploration. Unfortunately, the trails inside the park are protected and two and four-wheeled vehicles alike are forbidden. But, nothings to stop us for enjoying an epic climb to either of the two entrances to the the national park. Entering through San Juancito, we will see an 1880’s era mining town where the U.S. operation Rosario Mining Co. mined silver and gold. Today, the commerce in the town depends on park visitors and coffee exportation.
We will trade our biking cleats for hiking shoes and head deep into the heart of La Tigra. Deep caves, babbling brooks, towering trees, and waterfalls will give you a great picture of what cloud forests are all about. Afterwards, we have some great lunch spots as a long ride and an even longer hike are sure to work up and appetite.
